Pauline Paquin is a beloved Quebec painter born in 1952 in Sainte-Monique in the Laurentians. A trained nurse, she began painting in 1980 and left her career in 1983 to devote herself fully to her art. Entirely self-taught, her figurative style is characterized by an explosive colour palette and the joyful, faceless children who populate her canvases — scenes of childhood rendered with spontaneity, warmth, and an acute eye for detail. Her work is held in galleries and collections throughout Canada and beyond, and Canada Post issued a stamp featuring her art in 1996 to mark the 50th anniversary of UNICEF.
