Jane Appleby is an expressive and intuitive painter inspired by the Canadian landscape, often painting outdoors in the tradition of the Group of Seven. Born in the Czech Republic, she immigrated to Vancouver in 1969 and today lives in Burnaby. She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, teaches painting workshops at Place des Arts in Coquitlam, and has taught watercolour on Cunard Cruise Lines. Her work is influenced by Van Gogh, Mondrian, Emily Carr, and Gordon Smith, among others.
