Raised in Japan, Canadian-born artist Joyce Kamikura now devotes her attention to painting full-time in her studio in B.C. Before she became a painter, Kamikura graduated with a BA of Commerce and Administration in 1965 and went to work as a management trainee. A few years later, her “hobby” became her first love and then her profession.
Joyce is a signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and the National Watercolour Society (USA). Her works have been entered in many juried exhibitions and she has had numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide. Concerned that women do not take enough time for themselves to paint, Joyce stresses the importance of recognizing that art is a long-term commitment that should be practiced and nurtured every day.
